Fix Windows 10 Pending Updates

Windows update is a crucial part of Microsoft Operating Systems security maintenance. Security patches are then released at scheduled timings to provide updates like service packs and other Microsoft software. Likewise, the installation of the latest drivers for your hardware installed on a computer.

How to update Windows 10?

To do this first, you have to select Start Windows in the bottom-left corner of your screen or just hit the windows logo on your keyboard. Then go to Settings (or the gear icon), the Windows Settings are then displayed. In the selection, list click Update & Security. Next, on the right side of the panel click the button that says Check for updates. Sometimes you need to restart your computer to install some security patches. 

But why is it most of the time we got some error messages that say, Windows Update Pending To Install?

By default, Windows are set to automatic download and install whenever there is an available update. However, sometimes we may get error messages like “Windows Update Pending To Install“, and the update are getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. There are many ways to check to resolve this issue.

Open Windows Troubleshooter.

  1. Click on the ‘Start‘ at the bottom-left corner and select Settings.
  2. Click on ‘Update and Security‘ and find the Troubleshooter option.
  3. Click Run the troubleshooter option to fix the issues, and restart the computer.

Turn On Windows Automatic Updates.

  1. Go to Control Panel, then select Administrative Tools.
  2. In the Administrative Tools, select Services.
  3. Find Windows Update, and click.
  4. In the properties, locate Startup Type and choose Automatic.
  5. Click OK.

If the status installation is too long, open the command prompt, and restart the services in sequence.

  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop cryptSvc
  • Then net stop bits
  • net stop msiserver
  • net start wuauserv
  • Then net start cryptSvc
  • net start bits
  • net start msiserver

After that, manually reset Windows Update components.

Sometimes you need to restart the computer to continue the updates.
