Here comes the latest release from Apple for this year’s update, the macOS Big Sur. The most advanced desktop operating system ever released by Apple bringing users experienced to a new level.
The new refined design and add-ons give you even more things to do on Mac devices.
Features in the latest update:
Streamlined apps
From full-height sidebars to refreshed toolbars, a clean new app design makes sure your content is always front and center.
Refreshed Dock
A sleek design update makes getting to your favorite apps even easier. And a new uniform shape for app icons adds consistency while letting the personality of Mac shine through.
Control Center for Mac
Instantly access the controls you use most — like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth — and new controls to play music and enable Dark Mode for your display. Designed just for Mac, the new Control Center lets you add controls and drag favorites to the menu bar to customize it just for you.
Notification Center
A new design combines notifications and widgets in a single view for more information at a glance. Notifications are now grouped by app, and many are interactive — letting you do things like play new podcast episodes or learn more about Calendar invitations. And redesigned widgets come in three different sizes, so you can create the best view for you.
The new Mac devices come with macOS Big Sur pre-installed already. However, for those old versions, you should be able to download and use the new operating system.
The following models support an update.
- MacBook (2015 or later)
- MacBook Air (2013 or later)
- MacBook Pro (Late 2013 or later)
- Mac mini (2014 or later)
- iMac (2014 or later)
- iMac Pro (2017 or later)
- Mac Pro (2013 or later)
I tested this out in my Macbook Air 2014, and it works fine. But sometimes it’s kinda’ bit slow in opening applications or moving around the corners of the screen.
I felt an iOS soul in my Mac, like for instance, when you hit the notification group. They re-do the icon design with a little bit greyed out, not flat.
For updates, you should have at least 35.5GB available storage, on macOS Sierra or later version, and 4GB memory for the system requirements.
